Caring Ministries

Our Caring Ministries reveal God's love and mercy to congregation members as well as members of the surrounding community.  Lay volunteers who feel called to these ministries will be trained as needed.  If you would like to participate in any of these caring ministries, or would like to be a recipient of them, contact the Trinity Lutheran Church office.

Ambassadors
The Ambassadors are a dedicated group of caring people who bring comfort to families who have recently lost a loved one. The Ambassadors assist with funeral planning, provide funds for the post-service gathering, do personal visitations, make phone calls, send cards, offer encouragement, provide a card ministry, and offer limited transportation. They also keep in touch with the family by providing a listening ear and concern. The Ambassadors operate a small gift shop in the multipurpose room on Sundays with the profits earmarked for their outreach programs and supplies for Trinity’s funerals. They also provide mementos for children who are baptized at Trinity and gifts for confirmands.

Communion for Shut-ins
Lay volunteers visit homes, hospitals and care facilities to offer the sacrament of Holy Communion to shut-ins.  It is scheduled twice each month and by special request.

Good Samaritan Fund
Trinity's Good Samaritan Fund is used to bring financial relief to those in a short-term financial crisis.  These funds are typically used to help pay for rent and utilities.

Prayer Chain
Trinity is a praying congregation and when one of our family or friends is in need of healing and comfort, we offer prayers for them.  Contact the church office if you would like to be a prayer recipient or if you would like to participate in this ministry.

Sunnyslope After School
The Sunnyslope After School is an independent, non-profit, 501-C3 corporation dedicated to the safety and well-being of neighborhood children. Trinity is a proud sponsor of SAS and provides facilities and volunteers to operate the program. Services are provided at no cost to first through sixth grade students and runs Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 5:30 PM. The program provides a safe, nurturing and fun place for the children to gather when they might otherwise be home alone. It also develops a positive trusting relationship with adults who care about them. Children receive help with their school work through structured learning and homework centers. Outside games and activities along with inside games and crafts help develop both social and motor skills. Children are also provided a light, nutritious meal. Family gatherings throughout the year encourage participation by the older siblings and parents. Each summer, Las Salas sends several children to a five day offsite camp. Approximately twenty-five to forty-five children currently participate in the After School Program and many volunteers from Trinity support and contribute to to this effort.  (See Sunnyslope After School program web site).
