About Trinity

Trinity Lutheran Church is one of sixteen central-corridor churches in the Capital Conference of the Grand Canyon Synod. The Grand Canyon Synod consists of ELCA churches in Arizona and Clark County, Nevada and is one of the synods in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

Trinity members attend National and Synod Conventions and Assemblies and our youth attend the National Youth Assembly and Synod Conventions. Trinity is a member of the Arizona Ecumenical Council and the Lutheran Urban Coalition and participates in functions of Lutheran Social Ministry of the Southwest. We are involved with the Synod Council and the Lutheran Cursillo Movement. Trinity Sunday School Teachers have participated in Synod Sunday School Workshops and in workshops among mid-size Lutheran Churches.

Music

The Trinity music program has evolved to be central to the history and strength of the congregation. The adult choir (averaging 24 voices) performs at specific worship services, occasionally provides special music, and regularly hosts special concerts and performances. The church employs a Music Director whose strengths are musical leadership and integrating the talents of people with diverse musical abilities. The caliber of the choir, due to individually trained voices, is exceptional for a church of this size. The choir is an important social support group within the Church and offers a fellowship opportunity for many parishioners. The Trinity music program has, in the last decade, grown to include a bell choir (averaging eight ringers) with four and a half octaves of bells. Members of all ages, including high school youth, have had the opportunity to play the bells. Consistent with Trinity’s commitment to music, the church added 13 ranks of pipes to the organ in April of 1989. Three ranks are displayed on the organ platform and the other ten ranks are located inside the organ chamber. This chamber has shutters installed across the opening that may be opened or closed by the organist, which allows the volume to be controlled as low as a whisper for accompanying very quiet portions of the church service.

Trinity's Mission

In response to God's love for us in Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, the members of Trinity Lutheran Church intentionally seek to share God's love through care and concern for each other and the world.  As part of the whole Christian Church, we proclaim the Gospel through liturgical worship, religious education, Christian fellowship, community service, and evangelical outreach.  In all we do we seek the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Bible and interpret our theology by the Lutheran Confessions.
